RJ Engineering delivered the structural steel fabrication and surface treatment package for the Stack project at Olympic Dam on behalf of KAEFER. Over a three-month program, our team fabricated and treated large steel frames in accordance with Australian Standards and BHP welding and fabrication specifications before delivering completed assemblies to site.
While initially presented as a straightforward design, the project evolved into a complex access and constructability challenge due to frame size and workshop handling constraints. Our team engineered practical fabrication sequencing and handling methodologies to maintain compliance, safety and quality standards throughout — adapting the build approach without compromising on either program or documentation.
The project was successfully completed to specification, demonstrating RJ Engineering’s capability to manage large-scale structural steel packages even when the scope shifts mid-program.
